World record carp

Andre Komornicki's world record carp was caught at the Graviers, France, a Scarred Mirror with a recorded weight of 91lb.
Andre has been a member of Essex Carp Syndicates for over a year and I hope to chat the Andre first hand about his world record carp and report back in a few weeks, But until now here the article from Carp Talk.

Here's Andre's story:
"It was Thursday and my week's fishing trip was slowly drawing to a close. My friend Sam had moved into the swim to my right the previous day. It was this move that proved to be the real turning point, as he brought an Angling Technics Procat bait boat with him, so I was now in a position to use it to cover the areas that had been beyond my reach, and also to pinpoint a little spot along the tree line to my left.

"On the Tuesday I had placed a complete container of CC Moores Intense Hemp and nearly a kilo of Tl boilies just off the bank in about 8ft of water next to a broken bough that was hanging into the water. It was nearing 5pm when I repositioned all four rods for the night. This was the first time I had put a hookbait on this spot with the aid of the bait boat.

"With all the fresh air, I was in the sack by 8pm, dozing off but not quite sleeping, subconsciously listening for the sound of a Neville. At 10pm I was woken by its high-pitch tone. Half asleep, I scrambled to try and get to the rod as quickly as possible. I struck and, luckily, the fish kited away from the bank and into the open water. With steady pressure I brought it slowly towards me until it was under the rod top, at which point it made a few lunges and short runs. After about 10 minutes it was ready for the landing net, ably handled by my friend Sam.

"It wasn't until it was in the net that Sam first shone his headlamp on the fish. 'It's the Scar fish! It's the Scar fish!' he screamed. Sam being a stroke puller, I replied: 'F*** off! "No, it is! It is!' he called. I peered into the net... What a sight! What a fish! It was huge! We just looked at it in awe - unbelievable.

"I took hold of the net While Sam called Luke moffatt. While they took over holding the net, I climbed into a pair of chest waders and got into the wjater. After breaking down the net and rolling it up, I hoisted the fish on to an open weigh sling, resting on an unhooking cradle. It took both Luke and I to lift the fish onto the bank and then onto another unhooking mat. We slipped the net from under the fish so it rested on the weigh sling, which we hooked onto the scales. With me holding one side of the bar and Sam the other, we lifted while Luke took a reading. Sam and Luke then swapped positions and Sam read out a weight of 95lb and a few ounces; Luke concurred that his reading was the same. Allowing 4lb for the wet sling, we settled for a new world-record weight of 91lb. There was silence for a few moments, then great jubilation and backslapping.

"That was the easy bit now to get the fish back into the water and take some photos. Luckily, she behaved herself. I was able to lift her up and have my photo taken with something incredible it was like a dream. You'll see from my face what a struggle it was lifting her. When she swam off strongly, I realized how tired I felt. Emotionally and physically drained, I reflected on what a unique wonderful event I had just been privileged to experience."

Baitcraft T1 boilies did the job for Andre, who presented the hookbait blow-back style on a 1inch hair to a size 4 Hybrid Longshank hook with shrink tube to accentuate hooking ability, a 25lb Snake- Bite hooklink and 2V20Z Korda Square lead on a Lead Clip and green rig tube. Tackle also included a Greys 12ft Bin. 3lb Platinum rod, a Daiwa 5000T reel and 17lb Adrena Line.
